This happened 500 years ago …. in Sitamarhi

The Land where King Janak found Goddess Sita eloped and with time and got converted into jungle. But some 500 years ago a Hindu ascetic, named Birbal Das came to know the site by divine inspiration where Sita was born. He came down from Ayodhya(Birth place of Lord Rama in Uttar Pradesh) and cleared the jungle. He found the images set up by Raja Janak, built temple over there and commenced the worship of Janaki or Sita. The mordern day Janaki Mandir which is apparently about 100 years old came up at the site which Birbal Das had discovered.
