AUTO DRIVER KILLED IN ACCIDENT

Madikeri Jan. 15: An auto driver was killed on the spot and three others including a scooty rider are seriously injured on head on collision at Madikeri today evening.

The auto driver Manjunath (23) a bachelor and resident of Shirangalli village Madapur is the victim. Theerthakumar his brother and Devaiah his cousin who were travelling in the auto are seriously injured. The auto was going towards Madapur and directly hit TVS pless which was coming towards Madikeri from Boikeri. The TVS rider N.T.Poonacha, the resident of convent junction, Madikeri and a planter is seriously injured and his daughter Varchana a pillion rider got minor injuries. The seriously injured are admitted to Madikeri Civil hospital.

The auto was running for hire in Madapur town and the auto owner Manjunath today came to Madikeri in the auto with his relations to attend an engagement function and was returning to his place. Poonacha after going to his estate at Boikeri was returning to Madikeri with his daughter.

THREE LORRIES CONFISCATED

Madikeri Jan. 15: Three lorries were confiscated with the loaded sand by the Madikeri thaluk thahasildar Babu Ravindra nath patel for illegally transporting the sand in Kattemadu village today morning. The sand was loaded in the Lorries without permission in the Govt. land.The incident is handed over to Murnad outpost police by the thahasildar.Police are investigating to find out the persons behind this illegal act.

KODAVA CULTURAL SHOW

Madikeri Jan. 15:Kodava cultural show is organized by Kodava sahithya academy and Bengunad Kodava samaja in Chermabane near here on14th and 15th.Various competitions attracted the youths for participation. Seminars were conducted. The cultural show like Bolakat, Ummathat,pareyakali, Kolat, kappeyat, kathiyat, balopat, thalipat and many competitions made the spectators to forget the outer world. Students also participated .Most of the gathered people wore traditional kodava dress.

The ornaments and monumental things of the King’s regime in Kodagu were exhibited by Thorera and Machanda families in Kodava samaj building. This include odilkathi, ,guns and old ornaments .Books exhibition was arranged. Imudiyanda Rani machaiah, the academy president and others were present.
