PROTESTERS WALKED 17 K.M.s

Madikeri Jan.17: “The Hindu Jagrithi samithi” of Kodagu and other organizations with the participation of tribal people have walked 17 K.Ms on the streets from kanoor village to Gonikoppal today to protest the mass conversion of tribal Hindus by community mediators. The “jatha” moved to create awareness and to warn the mediators who enter the tribal area to change their mind. The leaders M.M.Ravindra, Rajiv Bopaiah and others told “Times “ that this is the commencement of the protest and if such criminal act continues, serious protest will follow. Since decades, the tribes and the local community people live in a brotherly and sisterly attachment and the unwanted mediators try to spoil the atmosphere-they alleged. The weak minded tribals will yield to the pressure and afterwards they will be suppressed by the converted people. They will be isolated from the main community and will be ignored even to enter the prayer halls they alleged.
