GONICOPPAL COFFEE BOARD SET TO CELEBRATE GOLDEN JUBILEE

The coffee board Gonicoppa is all set to celebrate Golden jubilee.

Thara Aiyyamma, member of the coffee board told at Gonicoppal in a press conference that the celebration will be held at Aravathoklu near Gonicoppa on this 9th. She informed that ‘Coffee Kshetrotsav” will also be conducted on the occasion for the benefit of the growers.

She disclosed that Coffee is grown in about 1,03,580 hectares in Kodagu. In the total area, Arabica is grown in 28,303 hectares and Robusta variety is grown in 72277 hectares. A total of 1,10,020 metric tons of coffee is grown in Kodagu each year. She said that Karnataka grows major portin of Coffee in the nation. About 2,27,750 hectares of coffee plantation exists in Karnataka. She opined that Coffee Board is assisting the planters to maintain quality an find good market.

The Golden jubilee function would be inaugurated by the coffee Board chairman Javed Aktar on this 9th.
